Q: What are the aims of AESAS?
A: The
introduction of AUTOSAR changes the landscape of business cases for Basic
Software Components (BSC). Therefore, the members of AESAS face new questions in the discussions with
their customers, for example:
|
•
|
About the
license models (ranging from buy out license models to payment of fees per
ECU “micropayment”)
|
|
•
|
About warranty
obligations, in particular about the so called extended warranty (five to
ten years)
|
|
•
|
About the
liability risks of the software component suppliers which include possible
costs for worldwide recall actions.
|
The
liability risks clearly show that a fair distribution of the liability risks
between the BSC supplier, the BSC integrator, the TIER 1 supplier and the OEM
must be established.
AESAS provides a
forum for discussion within the automotive industry. AESAS
shall strive to achieve the goal of establishing a fair and cooperative
framework for the business relationships between the market participants in
the automotive industry, in particular in the market for basic software
components.
